Lightroom editing + behind the scenes

The new monthly food photography challenge is here and this time we will learn how to work with light. The theme is called: “Dark & Bright” – and it’s about creating two different moods with the same scene.

You can participate by posting an image into your Instagram feed from 19 June – 15 July.

The challenges will be monthly from now. There are a few reasons why not bi-weekly or weekly:

Firstly, you will have a lot of time to create your image and participate. Secondly, one month gives you a lot of time to re-do your image, as I saw many of you participated in the previous challenges a couple of times.

And thirdly, the aim of the challenge is not to compete, but to learn. I will be giving you more information and behind the scenes about how to create your entry in my newsletters. You can learn something new every week and constantly improve your images. If you haven’t subscribed yet, you can do so here.

The new theme: Bright & Dark and the moodboard

Lighting is the key factor for creating beautiful images and it’s inevitable for a photographer to know how to manipulate light. That’s why I want to dedicate the whole month to this topic.

The task for the challenge is to create two images, with the same setup/scene but with two different moods.

If you need an inspiration, here are the images I created for this challenge:

If you are curious about how I created these images, what kind of light I used and how I manipulated it, subscribe to my newsletter.

I will share the behind the scenes of these images in a couple of days, and every week in this month, I will share other useful info and insights of lighting. You will learn better how to work with light and how to manipulate it to create beautiful images.
